GREENLINE, THE STRENGTH OF ENVIRONMENTALLY-FRIENDLY INNOVATION. Preview of the new Ballarini collection at the “Fuori Salone” 2010

A collection of environmentally-friendly cookware. Recyclable and made with recycled raw materials, it complies with energy saving and ecological productive processes, which contribute to the creation of Nature Reserves in developing countries.

The ethical responsibility of the company is manifest in and expressed by the environmental label which accompanies each tool. Through this new method of communication, Ballarini declares and guarantees all the values these products express and a productive process totally aimed at the protection of man and the environment.

The ethical choice. Why is Greenline an ethical product? First of all it is made exclusively from recycled aluminium, which means it reduces by 75% the CO2 emissions created in producing the same quantity from minerals (bauxite). This reduction is even more significant as regards the saving of energy necessary to convert the recycled aluminium, compared to aluminium extracted from minerals, equal to 95%.

Tools which are used very actively on the heat, such as frying pans and steak pans, have a further advantage: the Thermopoint device, which changes colour according to the cooking temperature. The advantages of Thermopoint are immediate: it improves cooking quality, increases the life of the non-stick coating, and saves energy. In addition, Greenline packaging is made of 100% recycled paper, whilst the plastic parts of the packaging are 100% biodegradable. Each tool is guaranteed for 7 years, the long life of the product resulting in a significant reduction of CO2 emissions compared to a normal product which does not last as long (impact assessment according to the LCA - Life Cycle Assessment - method). All this, together with the possibility of recycling the product, make Greenline a product which really respects the environment.

An Impatto Zero® Collection. As well as boasting Green DNA, the collection also endorses a social message aimed at protecting an essential green lung: each Greenline product contributes to the creation of 5 square metres of new forest in Nature Reserves in developing countries thanks to its Impatto Zero® certification.

Impatto Zero® is a LifeGate project, the first in Italy to put into practice the intentions of the Kyoto Agreement: it reduces CO2 emissions and offsets them through the creation of new forests in Italy, Costa Rica and Madagascar. The species used are native and contribute to the harmonious development of the surrounding ecosystem, based on in-depth studies of local dynamics, with particular attention to the biodiversity of flora and fauna; the seeds and trees are not genetically modified (GM). The project collaborates with Italian and foreign universities specialised in LCA, Life Cycle Assessment, to scientifically calculate the environmental impact of any activity and collaboration with Parks and Reserves for reforestation, and the monitoring and protection of land. The entire Impatto Zero® chain is guaranteed by BIOS, the Certification Body recognised by the European Union.

At Furniture Fair “Fuori Salone” – Milan 14-19 April 2010

RINASCENTE MILANO PIAZZA DUOMO: The launch of the product will be exclusively previewed at la Rinascente, in the shop in Piazza Duomo in Milan from 14 to 19 April.

SPARKLING! ECOLOGICALLY CORRECT: During the important Milan International Furniture Fair, Ballarini will be present to preview the new Greenline collection at the Sparkling! Ecologically correct, Zona Tortona space. It was here that last year the company appeared with other sustainable collections, from bIO to QBe, from Green Home to the new food culture project for infants “Cucinando s’impara”. The event represents a sort of “guide to critical consumption” welcoming those companies which have adopted a new model of development, more respectful of social and environmental aspects, with the aim of promoting more informed consumption.

LA FABBRICA DEL VAPORE: La Fabbrica del Vapore has, over the last few years, represented a consistent voice and played an important role at the Fuori Salone, where it is visited by members of the public who are swayed less by communications, and more likely to be seeking content related to green issues, also in addition to design and furnishing. “La fabbrica della sostenibilità” (The Sustainability Factory): this is the common denominator of the themes featured at the Fuori Salone 2010, aimed at forging a bond between “the sustainability factory” and the keywords: sustainability, eco-compatibility, energy efficiency and design of urban green areas, short supply chains and networks. The event is endorsed by the Municipality of Milan in collaboration with FdVLAB (La Fabbrica del Vapore Workshop Association) and the magazine Ottagono.
